Starting at Huntly Square, head down Duke Street and onto Bogie Street eventually crossing the Bogie Bridge (1). After passing under the railway bridge (known as the Gullet) (2) walk up the hill and take the road to the left opposite the western station car park. Follow this road curving around to the right and take the track (3) heading into Battle Hill woods beside the stone wall.
Once in the woodland take a left onto the main trail and follow this round the outskirts of the wood for 2km, eventually looping round to the old quarry (4) next to the Battle Hill Trailhead.
Alternatively, ¾ of the way round, take a right on the east side of the hill. (5) This will take you up onto the summit of Battle Hill with sweeping views over Huntly. Continuing along this track will take you back to the main Battle Hill Car Park.
From here head down into the car park and follow the road and turn right once reaching the main road. (6) Follow this back through the Gullet (the pedestrian railway bridge can also be taken through the station) and head back up Bogie street, eventually returning to The Square.
A gentle circular walk, through the native woodland of Battle Hill, on well-established dirt footpaths with pleasant views over Huntly and the surrounding area. More routes can be viewed on the information board at the main car park.
